It all begins with the start.

There are many different parts that make up a successful sprint, and all of them are important...but, it all begins with the start. Whether you are an experienced track athlete or new to the sport, you need to have a proper start in order to be effective.

A valuable training tool.

For the experienced sprinter, you don't always need a set of traditional blocks for a particular workout, because you are not always working on your start. Sometimes, you want to work on a different phase of your race, but you still need to simulate a competent start to get you going down the track. For those workouts, you'll be glad you have Ignite BLOX.

Why BLOX?

BLOX are super light and portable, weighing in at only 12 ounces. They can easily be kept in your bag at all times, so they are ready whenever you need to hit the track to train. Unless you are specifically working on your starts out of traditional blocks, there is no reason to lug them along to every workout anymore. Get BLOX and get training!

4 Point Start With BLOX

Runner has both hands and feet on the ground. Pushing off of BLOX allows the runner to drive forward with a maximal effort, using both their lower and upper bodies. This start requires a large amount of strength and power and is the most commonly used start for high school, college and international track and field competitions.

4 Point Start Without BLOX

Without BLOX to push off of, it is nearly impossible for the runner to get an adequate push from their feet. The front foot is flat on the track, which allows for almost no ability to push off. An effective start requires force through the feet to be both forward down the track and upright, which can't happen without BLOX.

3 Point Start With BLOX

Runner has two feet and one hand on the ground. Pushing off of BLOX allows the runner to achieve a proper running position very quickly. It is the preferred start for football players running the 40 Yard Dash, as well as any youth or high school runners who do not have the strength and power, or experience, to use a 4 point start.

3 Point Start Without BLOX

Without BLOX to push off of, the runner must push more straight down into the track with their feet, which "pops" the runner up into a vertical position. The front foot is flat on the track, which allows for almost no ability to push off. Without BLOX, much energy is wasted and force lost, which could be used to propel the runner down the track.

2 Point Start With BLOX

The runner has both feet on the ground, and no hand support. Using BLOX to push off of, all of the runner's energy is transferred forward and into a proper running position at the start. This is the most basic track starting position and the one used most often by youth runners.

2 Point Start Without BLOX

Without BLOX to push off of, the runner must shift their weight backwards to get the necessary push from their back foot. The front foot is flat on the track, which allows for almost no ability to push off. This is slow and very inefficient, but is the most common way for youth track runners to start.
